How to Enhance Your Freckles with Makeup

I recently had the pleasure of working with a wonderful woman, Yunah, who was so proud of her freckles. She asked me not to cover them as much when I was doing her makeup on day two of our project. That got me thinking about how many people out there have freckles they love and want to enhance with makeup! So, if you’re one of those people looking for tips on what products to use that won’t cover your freckles and how to make them stand out, this blog is for you. Keep reading for some great tips and tricks on how to enhance your freckles using makeup!

Using the Right Products

The first step in enhancing your freckles with makeup is selecting the right products. You want to avoid heavy foundations or concealers that will cover your beautiful freckles. Instead, look for lightweight or sheer coverage options like tinted moisturizers or BB creams. These types of products provide enough coverage to even out skin tone while still allowing some of those gorgeous freckles to show through. You can also opt for a light powder foundation if you need a bit more coverage in certain areas but don’t want to mask your freckles entirely.

Enhancing Your Freckles

Once you have the right products, it’s time to start enhancing those precious freckles! The easiest way to do this is by using a bronzer or blush that is slightly darker than your natural skin tone and lightly dusting it over your cheeks, forehead and nose where most freckles are located. This will create a subtle contrast between your skin tone and the lighter color of your freckles which will help them stand out more than usual. If you want an even brighter effect, try adding a bit of highlighter in the same area after applying bronzer or blush—this will give you an extra glowy look that really makes those little spots shine! My favorite lightweight cream blush is my Lip & Cheek Tint, a pop of color that looks like its coming from within your skin, not sitting on top.

Making Your Own Freckles

If you love the look of having lots of tiny speckled spots across your face but don’t actually have any natural ones, there’s an easy way around it—you can make your own! All you need is a small pointed brush and some brown eyeshadow like cocoa brown or deep mahogany. Dip the brush into the shadow and then dab it onto random areas across your face until you get the desired effect. You can use more than one shade if you want some variation in color but remember that less is more when it comes to creating realistic-looking faux-freckling!

Enhancing or creating faux-freckling with makeup doesn't need complex techniques - just pick up what works best for YOU! With these easy tips, anyone can masterfully highlight their own unique beauty – whether it be real or created with cosmetics – so go ahead and give yourself permission to shine bright like those beautiful jewels we call “freckles”!
